Chan is known as one of the first Bahamian Artists to work on location. He would set up his easel in front of his subject matter and paint to capture its raw beauty. Here he is pictured painting the famous Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Nassau.
Gift to the White House
In August 1993, Chan's painting of Harbour Island was presented to the President of The United States of America, Bill Clinton by the Prime Minister of The Bahamas, the Honourable Hubert Ingraham.

Chan is pictured with the then Governor General of The Bahamas, Sir Orville Turnquest along with his long time friend and mentor, fellow Bahamian artist, Eddie Minnis.
A print on canvas is presented as a farewell gift to the Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas , Mr. Hu Shan by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Mr. Philip Brave Davis.
